In Search of the Perfect Dancing Skirt

Jake and I go swing/country dancing regularly and it’s almost impossible to find a skirt that has just the right amount of spin. This was my first attempt at sewing one…. and it spins to perfection! The outer layer spins full and wide and the under layer spins just enough to still keep me covered.

30 Accomplishments for 2012

At the end and beginning of each year I take a bit of time to reflect and set some goals. I usually write the goals down in a journal and never look at it again… therefore this year I decided to do it a bit different. I divided each goal into a specific set of actions.  I then designed them as a poster that I could check off and see the results each step of the way, adding visuals and written details as applicable. I thought of it like one of those activity books for kids where each page is a different activity to complete and sometimes you get to add stickers and such. It makes me want to complete it.

Indian Spice Kits

Just before Christmas I returned from my third trip to India. I came home with an array of spices and decided I needed to share the wealth. I assembled mini Indian cooking kits for friends and family Christmas gifts. Each kit included:

  • 6 Tins: Garam Masala, Turmeric, Fenugreek, Chilli, Coriander and Cumin.
  • 4 Bags: Cinnamon stick, Anise stars, Bay leaves and Cloves
  • 1 Jar: Jasmine Green Tea
  • 1 Book: Simply Indian by Tahera Rawji
  • 1 Chocolate Bar:  Fig, Fennel & Almond or Coconut Curry by local Theo’s Chocolate.
